Implementation of Cloud Point Extraction Using Surfactants in the Recovery of Polyphenols from Apricot Cannery Waste

The objective of this study was to investigate the feasibility using Cloud Point Extraction (CPE) isolate natural antioxidants (polyphenols) from apricot cannery waste (ACW). Four different food-grade surfactants (Genapol X-080, PEG 8000, Tween 80, and Lecithin) were tested at varying concentrations evaluate effectiveness technique. It observed that low in one-step CPE resulted less than 65% polyphenol recovery, which necessitated further extraction steps. However, high found significantly improve ACW for all tested. Among four surfactants, 8000 be most effective circumstances; specifically, adding only 2% surfactant per step a two-step enough effectively extract polyphenols with recovery rates better 99%. When 10% w/v used, recoveries greater 92% obtained. Since is reagent toxicity method simple, rapid, cheap, sensitive, selective, extracted organic compounds can used as food technology. This has important implications development sustainable additives.
